Purpose of the National Ethics Committee for Health Research (NECHR)

Main purpose of the NECHR is to warrant that all health research involving human, animals and environment that will be conducting in Laos regardless of funding support or agency directing the research must reflect on appropriateness of the situation and health essentials of Laos; and should follow the following regulations:

  • Appropriate with ethical standards based on four international basic health ethical regulations: autonomy, beneficence, justice and non-maleficence; and
  • Has scientific characteristics and adequate to respond to research queries, and protect the preventable participant exposure to risks and harms;

Past Presidents

The NECHR remains committed to upholding the high standards set by its past presidents. Their leadership and contributions have laid the groundwork for the committee’s ongoing efforts to protect research participants and ensure that health research in Lao PDR is conducted with the utmost integrity and ethical consideration.
